About Laura

Laura Macdonald Smith

I have worked extensively in the Creative Industry for the last 20 years. My work with text and non-text based practices has encouraged a full understanding of the relationship between the voice and the physical presence in the space.

My performance work ranges from physical based practices to Shakespeare and Classical texts. I have spent time as a Script Reader for the National Theatre, have run my own Theatre Company and regularly leads Workshops in the exploration of Voice and Communication.

I hold a First Class Honours Degree from the University of Leeds under the tutelage of Dr Eric Prince (University of Colorado), Sir Alan Ayckbourn, John Godber and Professor John Allen. I received an MA in Performance Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama (Distinction: Practical) under the guidance of Professor S Melrose (Sorbonne). I have studied Psychological Approaches to Executive Coaching with the University of Cambridge and Psychology with Oxford University. I have Examined externally as a member of the Board at LAMDA.

My work as a Practitioner continues with regular Workshops and tuition into the Voice and physical presence in the performance space.
